Part Time - 24 hours per week
Weekend, evening and day availability desirable.

In our Club Pet Boarding facility, keep the kennel environment, including kitchen and storage areas, clean and organized. Clean and maintain floors, windows, kennels, etc. Dispose of trash, recyclable materials, and animal waste. Perform routine housekeeping tasks such as laundry, dishwashing, etc. Clean and maintain other areas, as directed, including assisting with cleaning kennels. Help with dog services daily. Report any supply stock needs or kennel maintenance issues to Assistant Manager. Assist in other areas of the kennel as directed. Assist fellow employees and other departments as needed. Follow safety and sanitation policies throughout facility in order to maintain HWAC standards of excellence. Maintain compliance with HWAC policies and procedures. Participate in Center activities and events as required. Complete other assignments as required. Represent HWAC standards of professionalism.

In addition to the duties listed above, the Center expects the following of each employee: adheres to HWAC policies and procedures; works in a safe manner; acts as a role model within and outside the Center; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position; meets department productivity standards; participates in HWAC events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned.

The Kennel Assistant must be able to perform the following tasks, among others: Previous housekeeping experience and previous experience with dogs preferred. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team environment. Must have good verbal and written communication and prioritization skills. Must be detail oriented and organized. Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. Ability to work closely with animal (dog, cat, exotics) hair/dander.

Employee must demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

70 % of the Kennel Assistant job is conducted indoors under normal office conditions and 30% outdoors.
Helen Woodward Animal Center is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is not permitted in any HWAC building or vehicle.
