Part Time (Weekdays, weekends, occasional nights and holidays as required)


Maintain adequate supply of pet food by soliciting donations and organizing special projects such as food drives. Purchase food in accordance with budget when necessary.  Monitor distribution of food to organizations participating in the program including, but not limited to, Meals-On-Wheels.  Acknowledge contributions and answer inquiries about program.  Maintain strong relationships with Meals-On-Wheels offices and local pet stores.  Create volunteer job descriptions and work with volunteer coordinator to recruit volunteers.  Train, schedule, and supervise volunteers.  Acknowledge volunteer contributions to the program.  Perform absent volunteers' tasks when necessary.   Complete monthly reports on volunteer hours, pet store donation bin activity, and food donation levels.  File monthly status reports, profit and loss and quarterly Board reports and annual budget.  Update records on clients, Meals-On-Wheels routes, volunteers, donation sites, food distribution sites, and scheduling as necessary.  Establish and adhere to budget.  Ensure that AniMeals storage room is clean and well-ordered.  Represent AniMeals at functions and media events as needed.  Maintain compliance with Helen Woodward Animal Center policies and procedures.  Perform all duties in accordance with established Center safety standards.  Participate in Center activities and events as required.  Complete other assignments as required.  Represent HWAC standards of professionalism.

In addition to the duties listed above, the Center expects the following of each employee:  adheres to HWAC policies and procedures; works in a safe manner; acts as a role model within and outside the Center; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position; meets department productivity standards; participates in HWAC events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned.


The following is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the essential functions of this position, but rather a general description of some of the requirements necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position.  The employee must be able to perform the following tasks, among others:

2-3 years of supervisory/volunteer management experience. Good organizational skills.  Ability to communicate effectively through speaking and writing.  Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.  Strong interpersonal and motivational skills (must be able to establish good relationships with volunteers, coworkers, Meals-On-Wheels personnel, pet store managers and staff, and donors.) Computer literate. Access to own vehicle to pick up and deliver food.   Ability to lift up to 55 pounds easily on a regular basis. Available to work weekends and Holidays as requested by Management.

Employee must demonstrate ability to work effectively with others (including co-workers, customers, and others) by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress, timetables and issues; and addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions.

Employee must demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

As this position may require frequent driving duties, employee must possess a valid Driver's License.  Employee must complete a Driver Information Form and provide a recent DMV Driving Record Report to be kept on file, as well as proof of insurance.
